     Just how many different ways are there to make Flying Geese?  Many, many, many!  But, before we get into the different methods of making Flying Geese, perhaps we should first describe what Flying Geese are!

     Flying Geese are one of the oldest quilt patterns around and they are very versatile patches that are sewn into a rectangular shape, with two of the top (or bottom) corners having a different (and contrasting) fabric made from triangles.  The non-triangle area is the "geese" area.  The triangle areas are the "background" areas.  Here are some examples of Flying Geese:

   

     This tutorial provides you with several different methods for making these blocks; some easier than others.  Try them all, then decide which is best suited to you!

  

       A sample quilt using a single block, alternated in rows, is shown to the right.  This would make a great baby quilt!
