«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»«¤»¥«¤»     WELCOME
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Welcome once again!  It looks as though my neck of the woods is definitely on its way to winter.  We have no leaves left on the trees and I think most of the ones that have fallen are on my patio.  I'm a leaf magnet!

And speaking of leaves, I took the October Block of the Month pattern, Turning Leaf, and made a gorgeous table runner.  It's absolutely beautiful and I wish I could show each of you in person.  Neither picture that I took does it justice.  All I need to do now is get it quilted and hemmed.  I'm not sure it's going to be put on the table for November, 2001, but I'm positively aiming for 2002!   I added the instructions for making this table runner to the bottom of the October BOM page.  Click on the links in this paragraph to access the pictures and the Web page instructions.  Note:  For those interested, the apricot fabric is a fossil fern and the leaf fabric is a batik that I fell in love with.

Well, I had quite a surprise a few days ago when I was reading through the December issue of "Quilter's Newsletter Magazine".  Remember the article I highlighted a few months ago, about the Quilt Diary that I kept?  To refresh your memory, it's located at http://www.sregora.com/quilting/sregora/diary.html and it was featured in the December issue!  Talk about a pleasant surprise!  I'm still tickled pink.

I also have been giving my entire Web site a face-lift, so you may notice a different look to it.  I'm trying to keep it just as easy to navigate, though.

If you usually skip the Mystery Quilt sections, be sure to read MQ 4 and MQ5 this time... they just might be of interest to you!

The Quilting Passion Forum is doing very well!  We add new members daily and there is a lot of information being shared.  It can be found at http://forums.about.com/n/main.asp?webtag=quiltingpassion&nav=start and if you haven't visited yet, please feel free to do so.  It's free and we have several discussions and swaps going on.

Also, beginning with the December issue of this newsletter, I'm going to try to send it out on the first day of the month.

So, without further todo, let me get on with the news!  And for those of you that prefer to read this from the Web, you can find this issue at http://www.sregora.com/quilting/QPV1N6.html.

THE Mystery Quilt.  More pictures are arriving and as I get time, I add them to the Gallery, at http://sregora.com/quilting/gallery/.   This gallery is updated on a regular basis, so check back often to see what people have been making and sharing with us.

This MQ project is now closed, so I am not taking any more subscriptions for it, however keep reading to see about other mysteries that are unfolding.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Mystery Quilt 2 is still underway. This one is all being done via the Web, so there is no subscription necessary for this quilt.  It's a multi-functional project in that there are many options along the way.  The end result is very versatile and can either be a school-related wallhanging OR a cute baby quilt.  It begins on  http://www.sregora.com/quilting/MQ2/ and ends (hopefully) sometime before Thanksgiving... in time for those making it as a gift for a teacher for Christmas.  Three blocks have been done so far, but each are simple to do and take hardly any time at all to make.  The fourth block (for the school-related one) should go up sometime around the 10th-12th of November.

Let me know if you're doing this with me (I'm making a baby quilt!).   I'd love to hear from you if you are.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Mystery Quilt 3 was a quick project and finished in October.   It was Halloween-related and I've received some spooktacular pictures of the wallhangings.  These can also be found on the Gallery page, mentioned above.   It's a good thing I don't have to judge these quilts... they're all winners!

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
What can I say about MQ 4?  If you have a fabric that has a motif in it that can be "fussy cut", and if you're looking for a very simple and quick quilt to make before Christmas, and if you like to make a quilt that looks like it's 10 times more complicated than it really is... then this MQ is for you.  I've already had several e-mail me to tell me that they've skipped the first three MQs, but this is one that they're doing.

Personally, I'm using a fabric that has the cutest little snowmen on it to fussy cut.  It's going to be a Christmas present for one of my daughter-in-laws.  I can hardly wait to give it to her!

If you'd like a sneak peek at this MQ, check out http://sregora.com/quilting/MQ4/ and http://sregora.com/quilting/MQ4/requirements.html.   To be notified of the releases of new instructions, simply send a request to be put on the MQ mailing list to me, with MQ in the subject area.  It's that simple!

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
What?  MQ 5 already????  Well, not really.   But, I have designed it and it's ready to go, but I thought you might need some time to find the necessary ingredient for it.  First things first, though.

When will this one start?   I'm going to give this one out twice.  Once on New Year's Day and once on Super Bowl Sunday... you know, those two days that we really don't do anything, except sit around with football games and parades blaring on the television?  Well, I thought it would be nice to start the year off by making a quickie something, so that's the purpose of this one.  :)

What is that special ingredient that you need to be looking for?   You will need to find one of two things... either a fabric that has an overall "outdoorsy" scene on it or a pillow panel that has an "outdoorsy" scene on it.  So, the key is this:  Find something that looks as though you're looking at an outdoor landscape or something that could be standing/sitting outdoors.  I hope that makes sense!  As for size, it could be as small as 12" and as large as 20".  Those are just approximations, though, and you could really use any size you're comfortable with.

«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»«¤»¥«¤»     FREE PATTERNS
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Patterns, patterns, patterns!  In the month of October, I added links to over 350 new patterns.  To see all of the free pattern links, begin at http://sregora.com/quilting/freepats.html.   The new ones are designated by the flashing "New" icon.  I'll be removing all of those 350 "New" icons within the next day or so, though, because I already have new patterns to add for November!  This is the reason I'm changing the issue date to the first of the month, instead of the fifth of the month.  I have to wait several days before posting new patterns and I'm not one to like to wait!

If you have a favorite pattern on the Internet that I don't have listed, please send me the address and I'll add it as soon as I can.

This month, I'm featuring an adorable little turkey table runner!  I have it listed at http://www.sregora.com/quilting/projects.html#table and it's called "Turkey Tablerunner".  It looks simple and whimsical.   It would look great on your dining room table this month!

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
One of the top questions that was asked to me via e-mail was how to print off some of my pattern pages.  For some, the edges are cut off, so I've edited the pages so that, for most of you, the pages will print correctly.  For those of you still having problems, I'd recommend setting your page print-out to "landscape" instead of "portrait", under the File area in the menu at the top of your browser.

Do you have an opinion or suggestion you'd like to share?  If so, let me know!

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Snowy Tree is my November BOM.  It's a very simple, appliqué pattern that I think would make a great little wallhanging for the upcoming winter season.  You can read about this at http://www.sregora.com/quilting/bom.   I've added several different layouts so that you can get a good idea of what it has the potential to do.  This is a good pattern that would be very easy for new appliquérs to start with, so if you've been wanting to get your feet wet in the appliqué arena, this is your opportunity!  The EQ4 project file is available upon request, so if you'd like a copy of the project, just let me know.

As usual, insert the necessary copyright notice here.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Well, time surely does fly by when I'm writing to you.   The holiday season is quickly approaching and I'm sure that most of you are going to be extremely busy over the next couple of months.  Don't forget to take some personal time for YOU, though.  I hope that each of you have a wonderful November and can find plenty of time to quilt!

Take care,
Terry
