Each year, there are thousands of children (from infant through teens) that are traumatized due to events and/or circumstances that they have no control over. In March of 2002, I initiated a project that gathered volunteers from all over North America to creatively make quilts to comfort these children. And us being the quilters that we are, just "any" old quilt thrown together wasn't good enough; we have put together and donated some of the most spectacular and stunning quilts imaginable. It is obvious from each quilt that we produce that love is stitched into every seam that is sewn. With that said, a Saturday in February of each year will be designated as our QP "Make A Quilt Day", with the week preceding that Saturday being our QP "Make A Quilt Week". This coming year the event will be held from February 11th through the 17th, with the 17th being "Make A Quilt Day". If at all possible, please either try to set aside some time to make/finish a quilt by this date and/or find some friends to collaborate on a quilt with. Doing something like this for a child is so rewarding that I cannot even begin to describe it. Feel free to either donate locally to your own charitable organization or through our project. Anyone wishing to mail their quilts directly to someone on our donations list or to me (and we'll donate to an organization on our list) may do so by contacting quilting@quiltingpassion.com or Peggy or Sheryl or on the Quilting Passion Forum. Fire up those sewing machines and let's see what we can this year to celebrate this week!
