July 7th of each year is designated as "Patty's Day" in honor and remembrance of this very special lady. In honor of Patty for 2007, blocks are being collected to make a quilt to be donated in her name. These blocks will have a "heart theme" and can be paper-pieced, pieced, appliquéd, or any other technique that you choose. These blocks can also be made from "heart" fabric. Unfinished blocks should measure 10.5" x 10.5" and should be mailed (and postmarked) to Terry no later than July 2nd, 2007. Should you need to find a pattern, there are quite a few patterns available on Quilting Passion. Patty was known to all of us on the Quilting Passion Forum as "PattyNPieces". She joined the forum from its very first day of existence, 09/17/01. She was loving, compassionate, kind, quick to volunteer, and so very courageous throughout her illness and hard-fought battle with cancer. Patty was from Bakers, Louisiana and last logged in on the forum on 08/16/2005. Her personal quote was, "The most precious thing we have is life, yet it has absolutely no trade-in value.". I have often pondered exactly what she meant by that and wish I had taken the time to ask her while she was with us. Patty was very active on the forum, hosting and participating in many swaps, as well as simply being her chatty self and leaving messages to all of us. In fact, during her almost-4 years on the forum, she posted a total of 4,670 times! Her love of quilting was well-known to us. I fondly remember her sharing photographs of her quilts, which I will be sharing at the bottom of this page. Patty loved to participate in the swaps on the forum! Here are a couple of her finished projects that she happily shared with us.
