Calling all quilters!  October is Breast Awareness Month!

Won't you join us in the fight against Breast Cancer?  You can help support us in this very worthwhile event in fighting **Breast Cancer by submitting blocks to Quilting With A Passion!  These blocks will be sewn into quilts and then mailed to the Better Homes and Gardens® American Patchwork & Quilting® magazine Quilt Pink Organization.

First, there was Quilt Pink Day, held on September 30, 2006, nationwide.  We had quite a few forum members to donate blocks to their local quilt shops!  These ladies all deserve a huge pat on the back for helping do their part in this fundraising event!

Currently, there are two (2) Quilt Pink Block Events being sponsored by this Web site:

  • Blocks submitted by QP Forum Members to local quilt shops on Quilt Pink Day (September 30, 2006),

  • Blocks submitted to Quilting Passion through the Pryor Area Quilt Pink Block Event,

  • Quilts submitted to Quilt Pink.

Here are FAQ for this event:

  • What size block should be made?  We are collecting 12.5" x 12.5" unfinished blocks.  Any pattern, any technique.  Use 100% good-quality fabric.

  • What fabric should be used?  Any good quality brand of fabric in predominantly pink and white. Other colors may be added in for pizzazz, in small amounts.

  • When are unfinished quilt blocks due to Quilting Passion?  No later than November 30, 2006.

  • Where do I mail the quilt blocks?  This will depend upon the number of blocks we end up with.  Please send an e-mail if you need the QP mailing address.

  • What size quilt should be made, if I wish to make an entire quilt?  Minimum lap size, maximum bed size.  We are aiming for lap size quilts.

  • When are finished quilts due to Quilting Passion?  No later than January 12, 2007.

  • Are any prizes/awards being awarded by Quilting Passion for participants?  Absolutely!  Prizes will be awarded by the end of November, 2006 for the Pryor Area and by the end of December, 2006 for forum members.

  • When are finished quilts due to American Patchwork & Quilting® magazine?  February 1, 2007.

  • When will the quilts be auctioned online on eBay?  Starting in May, 2007.  It is estimated that over 5,000 quilts will go up for sale!

  • What is the deadline to enter the consumer sweepstakes?  American Patchwork & Quilting® must receive online entry forms by October 15, 2006.
Winner will be announced in April, 2007 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting®.

  • Where do the profits from this fundraiser go?  100% of the profit goes to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.  Quilting Passion does not share in any profits.
