BLOCK 11, Crossed Paths

Block 11 in the Sampler #101 quilt is another simple block that looks fantastic when set with a sashing or used in combination with other blocks (samples shown at the bottom of the page).

Block 11 is constructed using four of the six fabrics:  Fabrics A, C, D, and F.

It is important to sew with a scant 1/4" (just short of 1/4") seam allowance so that your unfinished block measures 12.5" x 12.5", however, it is even more important to be consistent in your seams.  So, be sure to sew this block with the same seam allowance that you used in the construction of Blocks 1 through 10.

Cutting Requirements
Quantity Fabric Size
4 Squares A 1.5" x  1.5"
5 Squares C 1.5" x  1.5"
4 Squares D 5" x  5"
1 Strip F 1.5" x width of fabric
1 Strip C 1.5" x width of fabric

The quilt below is a simple layout with a sashing using only Block 11.  It reminds me of a plaid quilt!

The quilt below is a simple layout on-point using only Block 11.

The quilt below is a sample of using Block 11 in combination with Block 6.  This is a very striking quilt!

The quilt below is a sample of using Block 11 with Block 7.  Notice the diamond pattern formed?

Congratulations on completing Block 11.  We're getting close to finishing our Sampler Quilt with only one more block to go!  Be sure to sign up for the class beginning in January to quilt this!
